I am having a real hard time finding an elegant solution to this problem.

I am trying to find the index of a string in a collection by comparing the values. Everything that I can find regarding collections only allows you to return values via the index.

Ultimately I would love to know how to retrieve the file/path info from ableton of the fired clip, but failing that I am just grabbing the clip name (which doesn’t include the extension ughh..) from ableton and I need to search a path for that file to retrieve the real filename. Does ANYONE know how to accomplish this?

Perhaps post the relevant part of the patch you have so far so we can see what you are trying to accomplish. There is no built in search feature for [coll] you’d have to iterate through all the entries using [uzi] and compare them with [match] or [regexp].
