is moog~ really like lores~? a real analog moog is not wimpy 2nd-order filter like that.

a better moog emulation should be 4th-order filter like the one in tap.filter~ from tap.tools ( http://download.74objects.com/taptools/index.html ).

no, lores~ is not like moog~, even if you stack 2 of them for getting a 4th-order filter

it has to do with the resonance: you have to increase it a lot for hearing it, but it immediately sounds thin, whistling and aggressive (same for biquad/filtercoeff)

the Moog filters (and most analogue filters) are imperfect but have a pleasing resonance tone, which is not that easy to get in software, though it’s still possible (as shown by many VSTi synths)

maybe you can get the right sound using the right coefficients for two biquad filters, but I have no idea how to do it

I am also trying to find a resonant lowpass filter solution for Max and will tell you if I get any interesting results

best regards

As a followup, here’s another one I just released.

It does self-oscillation, has multiple modes (LP24, HP12,BP12,LP12,PK12,NCH12) and sounds nice and warm.
