I am making a series of Max for Live patches for algorithmic composition.

I want to send a list with note intervals from one patch and receive it in all other patches, but I have encountered a problem.

The problem is that it only seems to work with one patch as sender and one patch as receiver... When I add more instances of the patch that receives it stops receiving data.

What Live and Max version do you use? Also; how have you set this all up?

Because I can't reproduce this behavior, so I'm wondering if you couldn't experience some kind of timing or other problem instead...

But using send/receive (or forward) across multiple patches (and multiple patch types) works just fine.

I have a "master" patch on track 1 that send a list of numbers

On track 2 a "slave" patch that receive the list

At this point it works fine, but when I add track 3 with the "slave" patch, the patch on track 3 doesn't receive the sent list when it's of course triggered from the "master".

In the master patch I do "send varname" and in the slave "receive varname". Is there something wrong with this solution? Have I missed something?

As I am a beginner with Max for Live, I'm not yet used to some things.

I think the problem was that the patchers were open... when I closed all the patchers it works. Maybe it has something to do with that I only have an authorized Max for Live and not an authorized MAX/MSP?

And no; this kind of thing can also happens when you have a full Max license. As a rule of thumb its always best to test your patches by fully unloading them (either remove 'm from the track, or maybe start with a whole new liveset) and then pull 'm in "fresh".

This makes sure that you won't run into initialization oddities. Sometimes a patch which you worked on (so just saved) can respond totally different than when you pulled it in from the browser.

So I think this is what may have bugged you here...

This is my general rule of thumb as well, stop the liveset, delete device and cmd z to undo deletion...
