Send output as firewire input

February 13, 2007 | 7:05 pm

Hi there,

I’m working on a basic video mixing patch (read as first proper patch), Is there any way to send the output in a manner that the video could be picked up as a firewire input?? I’ll be streaming the video using flash media server and have a swf file that deals with all the encoding and connecting to the server etc, I just need the swf to pick up the video signal from the jitter patch.

As a really hacky solution I had thought of sending the output fullscreen out of the dvi and then running that back in through a composite to firewire converter which flash should pick up as a camera. Its a really horrible solution I know, but all my noob brain could come up with.

If anybody could point me to a tutorial I’ve missed or knows of any other way to send the video to fms I’d love to hear your advice.

I’m a noob, please be kind, I’ve searched the tutorials, cookbooks and forums with no joy, I know there is probably a simple way to do this I just cant see it.

Cheers

Jack

Hi Joshua,

Thanks for the advice, I had looked at jit.qt.videooutput but i dont think it works for me, basicly I’m trying to get flash to recognise the video output as a camera so that it can be streamed through flash media server, does anybody have any knowledge of this or other ways to send the video into flash or communicate directly with flash media server

Cheers

Jack
