sending keypresses out to control dvd playback

I’d like to send keypress data out of Jitter to control other programs. Namely, I’d like to have Jitter activate the “skip to next scene” function on my dvd player program, which is mapped to the right arrow key. Is this possible? Any workarounds? I’m on a macbook pro. Thanks for your help.

Not sure without checking, but DVD Player’s probably Applescriptable. You can use the shell external in Max to run osascript on the command line to launch an Applescript to skip tracks.

What is osascript? I’ve also never used applescript, but I think I can figure that one out.

osascript is a shell command to execute applescript from the
terminal, or in your case from the shell object. You can also use
tap.applescript object if you have tap tools installed.

I get the error “loading old CFM externals disabled” when I try to use the shell external. Any ideas?
