serial object issue, Max /MSP and ArduinoBT

November 18, 2008 | 3:20 pm

Hi All,
I’m trying to connect to the serial port of my Macbook Pro (with Mac/OS 10.4.11 running) to get data in from the Arduino Bluetooth.

The problem is that in Max/Msp 4.6, when I try to select the right port as the serial port, MAx keeps deselecting the port where my Arduino Bluetooth is on and gives error messages that it can’t connect to the serial port.

In the Set up Bluetooth device (part of MacOS) I have set it up so that no password is required to connect to the ARduino Bluetooth, so it shouldn’t be that.

Any suggestions from anyone? I have attached my Max patch for you to see. Many thanks in advance. cheers! zwemmer

I have quit Arduino software already, so no, this doesn’t solve the problem.
Arduino has to keep doing it’s thing on the Arduino BT itself so that there is data coming in in the right format.

Any other thoughts? cheers, z

There was a post about this a while ago.

Did you look on the Arduino website to make sure you have the right baud
rate? You can only use one with the Bluetooth.

Cheers,

Carey

HI,
I have the right baudrate of 115200, that is not the problem.
I can’t find any relevant previous post on this issue on this forum, could you point out which one you are thinking of? many thanks.

Check out Max2Arduino or Maxduino.

Both work wonderfully.
