I’m using pattr as a kind of global replacement for pvar. I have a pattr bound to a number box in the UI that’s just used for display. I need to be able to set the number box to a particular value without triggering the sequence of events connected after the pattr.

If it were simply a number box, this wouldn’t be a problem – I could just send ‘set 44′ to set the display in the number box to 44 but without triggering anything. However, pattr doesn’t seem to respond to these messages in the same way: when I send ‘set 44′ to the pattr, I get an error message in the max window that says ‘warning: set: bad number’.

Is there an alternative way of setting the value of a number box (bound to a pattr) without there being any output from the pattr?

Would really appreciate your help on this,
