set the number of outlet with an argument

hi everybody,
i often the banger object in the RTC library.
but for yesterday,i have mac intel and the RTC library don’t work.
i make my banger style object….

but how could do to the arguments of the number of gate set the number of outlets

this is my object:

Scripting and the changeable argument (#) are your
friends.
I’ve been building abstractions to replace some old
favourites, and banger was on my ‘to do’ list, so
thank you for making me do this ;-)

but there is a little problem….
the first bang don’t go out of the object….
and how i could reset the banger???

if you have versions of objects in UB,i would be very interested..

(this also bounced – bizarre. We’ve had a power-cut here today that’s fucked some of our local servers, but these were sent by web mail!)

I forgot to add that you can search for UB objects by
visiting maxobjects.com and selecting ‘UB only’ in the
‘for’ menu.
My 3rd party folder so far includes: (collections)
Lobjects, a-objects, Ambi, CNMAT, Jasch,
LyonPotpourri, and PerColate, plus xsample~, bonk~,
fiddle~, and a couple of Olaf Mathes and Tristan
Jehan’s objects.
Panaiotis is in the process of porting his objects (I
have a working copy of his ‘autocount’ here), and
Peter C keeps teasing us with a ‘coming soon’ on the
Litter (Starter) front ;-)

If you look in the help file it says its from Peter Elsea.
He just posted shortly that his objects are available as UB now.

You have to use scripting. And you have to fill up your subpatcher with
a lot of outlets (maybe 64) and then delete the ones you don’t need.
A scripted banger could be done like the patch below, not necessarily a
beginners task… ;-)

It should work with the original help file…

Unfortunately this doesn’t work. As soon as you load a patch made with
it, all connections are lost…
I just posted a possible solution…

All my changeble outlet number patches use it. Its a pain because it
will limit the maximum number of outlets. And you need to hold shift-cmd
while loading the original subpatcher in case you want to edit it.
Another solution would be to do it in Java or Javascript…

Thanks Stefan, yours is indeed a better solution than
mine (with the one tiny exception that it doesn’t take
into account the second argument ;-) and I’ve learned
some useful things about scripting today,

hello all,
when I attempted to write an abstraction with number of outlets as an
argument, everything worked well except that all connections were lost when
I reloaded any patch using this abstraction.

Then I tried to do what Stefan suggested, (having a quite large number of
outlets and then deleting every not needed ones…) because his patch
doesn’t work here (winXP, maxmsp 4.5.7).

The weirdness is, when I use any number as argument, the object still have
his 64 outlets, and if i double click it, it only has the number of oulets i
asked him !!!

If anyone could have a look and tell me if (s)he has the same weird
behaviour, it would be very nice.
