Hi,

I am running Max/MSP/Jitter 5.1.0 (41208) on a MacBookPro, 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3-RAM with OS 10.6.2

When I try to open a .wav-file into a sfplay~ object, the entire MaxMSP (not only the patch) crashes immediately.
Is this a known issue and is there anything I can do to load audio-files?

Thanks

Joko

That doesn’t make sense. Either your install is bad, or the file is corrupt or there is something horribly wrong with your patch. You should post your patch and maybe (if needed) yousend or upload one of your waves so that someone with a working install of max can see if they have the same problem. This is a bit like saying, ” i got a brand new car, but when i turn the key it doesn’t start.” There has to be a system or user error.

Thanks for your answer kp*. I agree, it must be a system error. But since I can play audio normally it is an issue between Max and my configuration.
But I found a clue (not less mysterious): I had turned on soundflower (2ch) as my audio-input-device in the system preferences. Since I changed it to microphone the patch (2 objects: sfplay– and message box) works (it didn’t before). And now it keeps working even if I turn back to soundflower. Seems to have been some kind of a system hickup.
