Sorry if this is a simple question. I have tried using the help files but i dont really understand as i am new to this awesome programme.

I am creating a patch that lets me start and stop music using my iphone (i phone has OSCemote installed)

So far i have got the iphone to connect to max and i have configred it so when a command is sent from the iphone to max..a button object lights up.

However i was only using the button object to see if the iphone was connecting. I want the command that is coming from the iphone to play a music file.

please post compressed patches when possible, not pics!

Just put a message box with "1" between the route and sfplay~ and you got the simplest of players...

I have not even assigned a music file or anything as yet. Pardon my n00byness here :(

The iphone is sending the message /Button/A1 1 when i press it...and /Button/A1 0 when i release. Because I have a message with "1" coming from my route ogbject, everytime i press the button on my iphone the music plays but then when i release the button, the music starts again from the beggining because the sfplay~ object is recieving the message "1" twice...one for me pressing the button and one for releasing.

now i need to figure out how to stop the music :S its hard because the button output a 1 and a 0 when its pressed and realised so if i connect it to sfplay~ as it is it will start to play but stop as soon as i release the button.

When this is finished I have to show my teacher. How can i make an user interface for this? something more presentable than all these numbers and bangs ect?

You can use the "presentation mode". Right-Click on all the components you want to keep in the user interface and select "Add to presentation.."

In the bottom left of your screen should be a button with a bar chart on it, hit that and only the bits you have selected will be visible, withough patching cords and other rubbish, making it look nicer. You can also move stuff around in presentation mode and it doesnt affect patching mode; right-clicking on objects and looking into the inspector tab also gves you the chance to customize your objects :)
