here is my new patch that plays back piano sounds.

piano samples are included so that zip file is a bit bigger than usual.

win and mac versions of the build are also included.
__for_you_to.mxt is the original and editable patch.
(it's an old format but shouldn't have a problem with Max6)

how to use:
when you launch, you get a mixer screen with reverb and delay.
you select a “score” from the red top selection.
(there are six “score”s which are .mxt files in the _lcds folder.)
the operations are done mostly by dragging your mouse over the blank field.
the direction of the dragging will effect the outcome.
there are 7 voices from which you select at the bottom of the score.

you can select multiple scores simultaneously but it might increase the chance of crash.

you can change the tuning of the piano or select tuning presets from the list at the left top.
if you click soundcheck on the right top you will get old fashioned DSP Status.

piano sounds are recorded using bosendorfer mini grand played by me.

this patch was actually made for a production of a commercial cd,
but the project was rejected and shelved by the label…
so i thought it might just worth some to post the patch here.

i was going to write some detailed instructions,
but after a few demos on friends i realized that they enjoyed the mystery solving process of each score more than me revealing all the secrets out.
so i hope you enjoy the same process.

How a label reject and/or shelve such a work ?

hems, i don’t really know the reason of the rejection.
maybe the project was too ambitious and costly,
because originally the project was to have a few musicians play with the software, record the outcomes, and do remixes upon them.
there was even a talk to get Ryuichi Sakamoto and Towa Tei involved…

Nonetheless, I will study your work this summer, try to learn from it. Really good stuff man. I really liked the Kocyu project, I’d like to do something similar very soon.

Klangschmied, i would say they are more difficult though not impossible.
there are no messages to draw a triangle, so you have to use line segments.(in max4. i don’t know about 5&6)
circles are maybe a bit easier but [lcd] object is (in max4) not aliased,
so it won’t look very smooth…
