Without even opening any documents, Max takes almost a full minute to start up. This seems odd to me. Does anyone else experience this? Could there be something in my configuration that delays things? What should I look for, if anything?

Max application launch time is roughly proportional to the number of objects/files etc in the search paths (as determined by the Options/File Preferences setting) as they are scannned by the application on launch. Trimming or disabling unused folders/files should make a difference.

Also, if you have a virus checker, that will slow things down.

Get rid of all your file preferences and see if that makes a difference (it should), then add back only the ones you *really* need :)
