sideways text

February 6, 2009 | 3:35 am

I’m making a signal routing matrix and it would be simpler if some of the labeling is oriented sideways, ie 90 deg from horizontal. Is there a way to do this? All I can think of is to do something in photochop < - hey what a great typo!
anyway back to the subject… and then import blah blah boring

I think something like Photoshop is your best bet.

While we’re talking about text…. I’d love this feature. It’d also be nifty if there were some way to include font packages inside a binary or collective file.

Nonsense:

Sideways text, justified text, text which can be saved by pattr.
Washes your car as well.

Having said that, I notice that in Max5 on the Mac the Tahoma and
Optima fonts don’t seem to be available, so you’ll get a pile of font-
not-found errors on launch, but apart from that it seems to work fine.
I’ll fix the release.

not 100% sure but i think it may be because JSUI in Max5 is case sensitive when it comes to fonts. Check you didn’t write "tahoma" in your script

Nope. Accordingly, it’s now in as a bug report…

Any problems, omissions in the documentation, or general feedback,
please drop me a line.

(I’m looking into opening loadbang.net for user comments, but need to
get some anti-spam protection in place first.)

or get crazy and use jit.text.2D or 3D and rotate it via the GL commands. would only need to render it once. though you probably only want to have something like a comment rotated instead of this workaround :)
