simple question: how can I install help files

Hello,

In fact I’ve downloaded the demo (4.5.6 and jitter 1.5) and when I open max/msp In the menubar the help button is void, in fact I’ve just “maxhelp” but unclickable, is in grey color… I’ve downloaded the help files and tutorials, where I have to put them ??? I’m on OSX.
thanks !

This is a normal behavior. You can get a help _about an object_ by
option-clicking on the object box.

Normally, the installer does the job for you. Anyway, the help file
folder resides in your MAxMSP folder, and should be named “max-help”.
Look in Max’ option menu-> file preferences. You can set there where
you help file folder is.

Tutorials can go wherever you want. I think it’s time now to read them.

Have fun with MAx,

I’ve tried to put the documentations and the pdf in the max-help folder, but It’s the same problem, max-help is in “grey”… It’s because It’s the demo version ??
thanks :-)

Welocome to the world of max!

The Max Help menu IS ALL WAYS GRAY. Patrick Delges explains this in his reply to your post. Plus he gives you all the information you need to get started. You should read the ‘MaxGettingStarted.pdf’ and then work through the tutorials.

best,

j.
