simplest way to record MIDI, including clock etc

August 2, 2006 | 1:39 pm

Hi, I want to be able to record a MIDI stream (all channels), including the MIDI clock accurately. It doesn’t necessarily need to be saved as a MIDI file, as I’ll be parsing it with Max later…

But I do want it to be correct in relation to the clock etc.

Any example patches would be great, as this is part of my project but not the interesting part ;)

A tutorial # would be a fine response too :)

Thanks!

Sean,
You might take a read through Tutorials #35 & 36 in the Max TutorialsAndTopics file? Also, look at the section "Sequencing: Recording and Playing Back MIDI Performances" in the TutorialsAndTopics file. That might have what your looking for.

You might want to look at the help for the [seq] and [mtr] objects.

Hope this is helpful,
Mitch

Hi,

I’m getting the following error message when I try to load MAX/MSP 4.6 on my Intel Mac:

"License Period Problem

To run this software, your clock must be set to 08:22:44 on 11/15/39 or later.

Select "Cancel" to correct your clock and try again.

Select "OK" to run this software with your current clock up to 3 more times.

ID: eExp: 1037 / : 1322"

If anyone has had this problem or can shed any light on this that would be great.

Thanks,

Ben Halsall

You didn’t tell us if you corrected your clock or not.
Sometimes error messages do mean what they say…

Just curious if you took it serious…

Hi,

I’ve checked and re-set my clock. It is getting the time automatically from euro.apple.com.

Just manually re-set it too but no joy.

Ben

I have the same problem while trying to load 4.5.7, (I mainly use 4.6). Recently, I was using Max in Demo mode and I was able to switch from one to another… No that I bought it, it seems that I can only use the most recent version…
Does anyone know what should I do?
