Max external objects are platform-specific. They have to be built individually for Windows and Mac OS. Not all 3rd Party Objects are available for both platforms.

Given that smooth is only provided in a StuffIt archive is a pretty strong indication that it is Mac-only. Looking it up at maxobjects.com confirms this.

Personally, I’d use lp.stacey’s window mode from the Litter Power Package. It’s are included in the free Litter Starter Pack and will give you enormous control over how much smoothing is performed on the incoming data. URL *should* be in the .sig (assuming the forum is showing signatures again).

The following example shows stacey in action, it also uses lp.sss from the Starter Pack to generate a 1/f noise source.

The window argument has been in lp.stacey since Litter Power 1.5. Look at the sub-patcher in lp.stacey.help (or .maxhelp) labeled in eye-catching red “New features! Check out the patcher below” [p run-stacey-run!].

What version are you using, David? If you haven’t been getting update notices, please send me a current e-mail address off-list.
