new to this and don’t get why i can’t get buffir to work.

at the moment i’m simply trying to convolve an impulse response (recorded with a sweep deconvolved with its inverse and cut down to 256 samples) with a wav file read from sfplay

the output of sfplay into the input of buffir~ with the name of by buffer with the impulse response written in it to convolve with folllowed by 0. and 128.

i am using a simple replace message to a buffer to store the impulse response.

(audio is coming out fine from sfplay)

what am i missing/doing wrong, there are no other inputs to buffir, and in the help file it looks like the other inputs they have are just to help explain what is happening.

hope someone can help clear this up.

cheers!

Luis

what i am trying to do if this information helps is to make the track sound like it is coming from different angles when using headphones, similar to the binaural filter tool in soundhack (the sweeps were recorded binaurally using a dummy head)

Recently, while working with buffir~ that refers to a buffer of which the content is changed using a replace message, I noticed that buffir~ would not work. I could repair this by sending the number 256 into the right inlet after loading a new file.

exactly, there seems to be a little problem with “replace” here, i can reproduce i under mac OS 9. ^^

in your case it might be the best solution to write the filenames into the buffer objects to load
your 512 samples on startup – then have the deconvololution engine in a seperate patch, which
is loaded later. that should be comfy and safe.
