sometimes i read about the max4 object fiddle~ wich can track pitch as i understand.

is there something (internal) like that in max5?

There’s nothing in the standard distribution, but [fiddle~] and [pitch~] both work in Max 5. Go to maxobjects.com which should point you to both of these externals.

was it in the standard distribution in max4?

no, they are 3rd party externals. fiddle~ is by miller puckette and pitch~ (and anlyzer~) are by tristan jehan http://web.media.mit.edu/~tristan/maxmsp.html

what is the differnece between pitch~ and fiddle~ besides the output of midi vs. Hz?

pitch~ is less cpu intensive than fiddle~ from what i can remember. it also crashes far less, from my experience. i think pitch~ is optimized for msp, whereas fiddle~ was ported from a pure data external. but this is off the top of my head, the differences / features etc will most likely all be documented on that site i linked to, or in the help file
