I want to do some real time spectral analysis on audio to translate certain values into visuals. Thing is, I really don’t know where to start to build my own spectral analyzer. The object [fiddle~] isn’t quite working for me, and the [spectroscope~] doesn’t seem to have any sort of numerical output. I would like to know if theres any guide I could get started with such project, as it seems theres no simple path to achieve my goal.

Just in case, I found Ableton Live has a pretty good, clear and accurate spectral analyzer, but I wouldn’t know how to extract those values, if anyone had such knowledge that’d be appreciated as well.

Anyhow, I just need to be set in the right direction, hopefully I can solve it from there.
