standalone -> "no such object"

hello!

I’m working on a standalone out of max/msp 4.6.3. I’ve done it before, without any problems. This time, though, I wanted to do some extra customizing, so I figured I would use the “standalone” object, which I haven’t used before.

But Max won’t find it! I can see the object, help file, and inspector in the Max/MSP folder on my hard drive, but if I try and use the object in a patch it won’t work and max will say “no such object”.

am I missing something silly? I’m on OS 10.4.10 and max/msp 4.6.3, on a Macbook. Any help would be great.

Maybe you named one of the file in Max’ search patch “standalone”. This
is not a good idea…

that’s it! I knew it was something silly. I had an old file called “standalone.txt” hanging around confusing things.
