I am doing a sound
installation run by max/msp. Currently, the
installation runs for 15 minutes and is started by
pressing the space bar. At the end of the run, the
"dac" is turned off, and can be restarted again with
the space bar.
I want to figure out a way that the installation can
run itself every 2 hours, from 12pm – 6 pm without any
human involvement. After 6pm, it should stop running,
and not start up again until 12 the next day. It is
at a library, so it’s important that it be silent
during the down hours.
I-cal has an alarm that will reload the program at the
right times, but I can’t figure out how to close the
program automatically. Also, once the program is
reloaded, how do you get the "dac" to start
im kinda new at this so im sorry if this doesnt help:
to start the dac up on opening the program you could try using a loadbang sent a message of "1" to the dac, thus turning it on when it loads up
the object "thispatcher’ has a function to cloce a patch , that could help
theres also an object caled ‘date’ that will give you the current time
hope thats some use
connect a metro to a date object and use modulo and some logic objects til you get what you want ^_^ … or you can format the output of date with sprintf into a coll where you can store the desired times.
