hello!,

just that, It’s taking me more time to learn MSP than what I thought. every thing is ok with Max, but as I want to do somethings seemed to ableton live I don’t know where to start with.

I know that play and buffer objects are my best friends… but I need some “starting patches” as example.

fundamentally I’m interested on looping, and capturing and manipulating audio in real time.

any patches-links-suggestions??

thankyou so.

How long have you been working with Max/MSP?

I understand your wanting to move to live for immediate results, I
don’t see the harm in that obviously, but don’t give up on Max! Use
Live to get things done while you learn Max. You might try developing
plugins to run in Live via pluggo. Eventually you’ll find that Live
is too rigid for the things you’d like to do and that you can do
everything (and much more!) that you want in Max. At least that was
my experience.

Don’t give up, it’s well worth it!

Best,
Erik

4 months with Max/MSP, I have allready developed some projects for stage, and have done both max and msp tutorials (I love them! …what could I have done without them?!).

but I always use Max with ableton live, so I just need some patches doing things like looping and capturing realwordl sounds (patches with good starting ideas) to take them as a departure point.

I have done so with max with good results, so…

does anyone knows a link or a place for to download some patches about this matter?? (just for a starting point).

thank!

to put you an example:

http://www.sarc.qub.ac.uk/~elyon/LyonSoftware/MaxMSP/

lyons potpourry has an object called el.player- which makes some basic but interest (for me) things, even when I can not modify de path itself.

anything else seemed to this out there??

I have already done both tutorials (max and msp) what would I do without them??!!

in 5 months I have been able to integrate max into my stage projects.

but I always use max with ableton, so now I want to learn to do something like looping and recording-transforming real wordl sounds, but not starting from zero.

with max it’s helped me a lot to have lots of example patches (from others people works) to take as a starting point…

thats what I need with msp!

for example:

http://www.sarc.qub.ac.uk/~elyon/LyonSoftware/MaxMSP/

in lyon’s potpourry I can find some good objects to be inspired by…

do you know anything seemed to this??

thank you. I will work hard, don’t want someone else to make the “dirty work”, but I need some examples.

You are not the first, look at Jeff Kaisers looper.

http://www.jeffkaiser.com/software.html

Might be simpler than the other looping patches to understand and take
appart…
It will be fun to modify this patch to your own needs, like Krispen
Hartung did…

If you are into looping abstractions, please see below:

http://ico.bukvic.net/Max/Recorder9.zip

NB: to say that the abstraction in question is *messy* would be an
understatement. But the good news is it works 99.99% of the time.
