Static distortion in Jitter?

December 12, 2012 | 12:36 pm

Hi,
I am working on a project where I am interested in having an image/video distorted by the static sound of a detuned radio.
Originally I had the idea of trying to create a spectrogram of the signal and the spectrogram would reveal the image which would be somehow superimposed onto it. I then became inspired by Semiconductors work on the piece 20Hz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65bsKTI8SdA
I want to try and create areas of movement in stationary pictures, I’m especially interested in wavy lines distorting/bulging the image – I can best imagine this as some sort of oscillating function which introduces lines over part of the image. I have tried to make a patch which does something similar to what I have described and it does sort of work.

– Pasted Max Patch, click to expand. –

I’m stuck at this point, and really want to take the idea further. Any links, example patches or other examples of artists working with similar techniques would be really appreciated.

Cheers
