Step Sequencer

http://www.ableton.com/extend

skip to 3 minutes…

how would we go about making that in max? (how do we rotate kslider?!)

it would be great to have a kind of piano roll object in max

i think the ftm/gabor stuff has an object that is similar, but i think it is still in development

how hard is it to make an object like this?

Hello,

learning max, i try to make one ; maybe not the best way but you can have a look :

mac-only ; you need max 5.0.8 and jitter.

That’s an abstraction with javascript.

Thanks for feedback, comments are welcomed to improve it.

i have made one in [lcd], it has everything you need:

drawing rects and (almost) full mousing feedback.

live.* will also be included in the normal Max distribution, when Max for Live will be released.

so you’re saying we’ll get this object?

can you answer if it will have adjustable step sizes that are flexible? from the video it looks like its in blocks, as opposed to your usual piano roll type

also if you can, what else can we look forward to?

will this stuff be free for existing max owners?

thanks

yep.

live.step can handle up to 16 sequences of 64 steps. Each sequence has its own pitch, velocity, duration, and 2 other parameters. But that’s all I’m gonna reveal for now Wink

of course it is far more fun to build you own graphic elements.
