Strange matrixctrl behaviour

August 10, 2010 | 8:50 pm

I'm experiencing some strange behaviour with matrixctrl. I managed to make a single instance of matrixctrl with a graphic containing a mask, that appears as it should – see first screenshot. The inspector shows 'Has image mask' as expected and I am able to check the box.
All subsequent attempts, whether by creating a new instance and inserting the same graphic, copy/pasting, paste replacing etc. turn out like the second screenshot, and the inspector shows 'Has image mask' as being greyed out, so of course, it will not display correctly. The graphic is included below. Wtf?
cheers
Roger

Stay away from masks and use alpha channels instead to create transparent backgrounds. The mask stuff is mostly there for backwards compatibility.

I’ve had this type of weirdness happen to me too Roger, and Ben’s advice is sound: forget about masks, and just use alpha!
