I was making a picture button using pictctrl and encountered this problem. The image I am using is Image 1 in attachments. The top row is the button unclicked and clicked, and the second row is the mask unclicked and clicked. The idea is to have a partly transparent button which you can place over coloured panel in max/msp to get a nice button of desired colour. This works and can be seen in images 2 and 3. However, as soon as I click 'save file' to save the patch the button changes somewhat (illustrated in images 4 and 5). The resulting image is far from nice, instead of blur in the middle of the button I am getting defined circles. Why is this? My guess is that it converts the .psd image i am using to .pct and significantly lowers the quality. I can't find a tool to convert the image to .pct preserving the quality, so I tried using .bmp and .jpeg, but the result is the same. Do you think the problem will disappear once I convert the file to .pct prior to using it?
