String Processing Issue

I need to separate “Users/freddiem/Music/iTunes/” from:

” “file://localhost/Users/freddiem/Music/iTunes/iTunes%20Music%20Library.xml”"

I have tried regexp, but it seems none if its modes provide the functionality i need?
Is there a way to separate words by ‘/’ character in a string to make a list similiar to Applescript’s text Item Delimiters??

With regexp. Which, if (unlike me!) you understand well can be quite powerful. This solution is limited in that it will only work if the required path(s) are at the same hierarchical depth in each case…

Thanks Spectro, this was what I was looking for!
For it to work in cases where strings are not on the same hierarchical depth, is there a way to select the part of the string starting from ‘Users’ and ending with ‘iTunes’.

I have tried by using ^ and & metacharacters “regexp ^Users iTunes$” as object’s name/arguments and it seems the anchor points only work with characters and not words, can you confirm this?
