Sync audio files with external time line

October 20, 2010 | 3:12 pm

Hi,
I would like to play several audio files, placed in a database or folder, each of the audio files played at an exact moment.
The time to each audio files to start would be given externally. So I need to receive that time information externally and Max MSP would play the audio file at that moment.

Does anyone have any tip for that?

Thank you very much!

I guess that depends on what you want the external trigger to be.
What do you have in mind?

The idea is to have those audio files in a data base, or a folder, and receive an information by UDP with a number "T" and the name of the file.

The file would be played at the time "T"
The second file would be played at the time "T2" and so on.

One other thing, is that the file name can’t be number, they have to be a tag, like "birds", "dog", "car".

Example:
Max receives a message with "cat" and "10.5"
Max would retrieve the sound file "cat" at 10.5 seconds from a starting point.

Then Max receives a message with "birds" and "24"
Max would retrieve the sound file "bird" at 24 seconds from the beginning.

Any idea?
Thanks!!!
