synch multiple video

April 21, 2006 | 9:53 am

Hi there I’m currently looking in to ways to schronize 4 or 5 videos accross 4 – 5 displays which I must be able to control as they play. I’m unfamiliar with max / msp and wondered if it might be the best solution, could anybody advise whether or not it would be suitable.

Thanks

I did that once,
One computer was the remote control and there was 24 macminis controled with OpenSoundControl.
I had some slowdowns on the remote at a point because I was sending to much packets thru OSC.
But collecting all the parameters(starting point, speed, vol) in one packet solved that problem.

good luck.

Thanks for the help, so do you think its a viable solution? And does anyone want to expand on methods for implementing this, as I said I’m a newbie,

Cheers

im doing this as well with OSC, and doing a little bit of latency
testing/offsetting. it works quite well, and seems to dead on if I
play 3 movies each with the same audio track, I cant hear any odd
phasing/echo or weird artifacts from being out of sync.
