tap.applescript

so i jsut bought this from electrotap, and i cant get it to work.

i wrote my apple script :

tell application “XXX”
activate
end tell

tell application “System Events”
key code 124
end tell

i plugged it into the script editor, ran it, and it did what i want. i ommitted the aplication here.

so i put the same text into a message box, and sent it to the input of tap.applescript, and i get an error “doesnt understadnt “tell”

whats going on?

do i need to actually get the apple script into the max patch somehow?

tap.applescript reads scripts from the disk…you can’t send it
applescript commands line by line.
hope this helps,

I guess you have to provide the pathname of your script to [tap.applescript]

do you have it saved on your harddrive? It’s been a while since I’ve
used applescript, but I believe the steps are:
1. create an applescript using scripteditor
2. save the applescript
3. open the applescript you just saved using tap.applescript using
the “read” message.

check the help file, it gives out everything you need really. also, make
sure the applescript you’re using lives in max’s search path and you
should be fine to go (works here with a variety of homemade applescript
without a problem).

cheers
