I’ve been using Max for several years, and I’ve never had this much trouble getting Max to find an external library. The Tap.Tools library is saved in a subfolder of my main Max folder, and additionally, I have “tap.verb.mxo” in the portable folder for this particular Max patch. Even so, the Tap.Tools objects in my patch are “dark,” although I can still reference the Tap reference files by right-clicking on the object. Any idea why these externals aren’t working for me?

Yes ! I had a similar problem with my externals.

Clean out your preference folder in windows its :

c:UsersYour usernameAppDataRoamingCycling'74

just delete everything in the preferences folder. Restart max - reset file preferences to search including subfolders the folders where you keep your externals. Worked for me !
