text object and jit.window

Hi. I’m having a strange problem that I hope someone can explain. Whenever I try to use a “text” object, a jit.window opens. The window is always named “bart2″ – I usually name my jit.window “bart” – I have no idea where the 2 comes from as it is named with a “2″ regardless of whether I am using jitter in the patch or not.

This problem started occurring a while ago, but I just recently was able to track it to the text object. It began on a different machine – therefore a different install of Max, but it is still occurring on my new computer and recent install. I’m using Tiger on a G4 PB.

I don’t know if I’ve explained this problem well enough. I wrote support at cycling 74 about a week ago and haven’t heard anything from them – it’s not like them not to respond right away, so I’m worried that I am being unclear.

It sounds like you have a patch called “text” in your search path
containing a jit.window object called bart2. But that’s just a wild
