I just want to be able to drop any number of audio files in a coll and randomly flick through them, i will then use this to populate a buffer.

the patch works sometimes but the clear message keeps failing to work and its driving me insane. you'll see the coll length goes to the random object so the correct number of samples are flicked through.

ps. have you looked at polybuffer~ it's completely made for this sort of thing. Check the helpfile.

at first sight, you should reconsider your understanding of the right to left order of operations in Max.

for example, the counter triggers the pack BEFORE the file path have been stored in the right inlet... Seems weird to me, it should be the opposite.

@fixrobert..... I wasn't aware that that was the case. I thought i took care of the order with the t b b l the counter was to prefix an index no. to the coll, but perhaps i don't need it then

coll is a bit faster than umenu, but umenu has some advantages for collecting adresses/paths.

there must be a simpler way than this haha
