hi all.. a newb on many levels here :)

im trying to use a Wiimote as a controller for Audio via Max MSP, and i was wondering what the best way would be? Im on a PC so I cant use the AKA object.

I have my Wiimote connected ok, but im not quite sure what file to open in the tk.wii download. http://ether.tw/blog/?page_id=62#tkwii
there is only some C files, a Visual C file and an OBJ file..

im guessing the OBJ file is the one i want, but how do i open it it in MAx?? is it possible to track more than one point??

thanks in advance for any help

You put the object file in the externals folder in the Max MSP folder. if
there’s a max help file, that goes in the help folder.
You can also download the OSC converter on that page and take the data
through udpreceive (though you’d have to parse it yourself which might be
tricky)

thanks for the reply.. i dont seem to have an externals folder :)

documentation, examples, inst. logs, java-doc, max-help, patches, support, tiAction..

but no externals

The externals folder should be under the Cycling ’74 folder.

I suggest a different approach instead of putting it there. Create a folder somewhere for Max objects/patches/help files you download and put tk.wii there. In Max, under the Options menu, go to File Preferences and add that folder. You may need to restart Max after that.

Only put stuff in that folder that you want Max tto find (which may not be everything you download…)

There’s lots of good reasons to put other people’s objects in their own folder. Here’s one:
If you upgrade to Max 5, you’ll want to use these objects in Max 5 too. If you downloaded a bunch of objects and put them all in the externals folder, how will you know what’s downloaded and what’s part of Max 4? If you keep them in their own folder, you just set them up in Max 5 the same way and you’re done.
