tossymbol question

July 7, 2008 | 1:06 pm

hi friends !

here is a quick question

using the tossymbol , when using a seperator message and setting logical seperators like / "" ect… they all work , great !!! except for commas ,

Using the rule of using commas within max (ex: using , to seperate )

maybe this is also aplicable for tosssymbol , but NOPE the result is not a comma on it’s own but , as defined by the seprator message

Not that it is essential , for my work flow as there are other ways of adding commas inside messages

I was wondering why this was so ? as commas surely are considerd seperators

I think that if you were to use commas as a separator you’d no longer have a
symbol ("dogs cats monkeys sheep") but a list (dogs, cats, monkeys, sheep).
So, you probably wouldn’t want to use a comma. On the other hand if you do
want a list from a symbol you could use fromsymbol and zl iter.
