I am trying to track the wii remotes position to control a filter and various other effects.

Search the forum for "wii remote" and variants and you should find lots of example patches and links to a few externals which will grab the raw data for you.

The wii-mote works by tracking its position in relation to infrared tracking points (the sensor bar, or alternatively, IR LEDs, or even candles have been used with success).

Assuming you've got either the tracking bar or LED tracking points arranged, then you should just be able to access the wii-mote's output via an external.

The aka externals have proven to be fairly reliable, and provide you with the IR positional data from the controller:

I am using the aka.wiiremote patch but my issue is that IR rays will be blocked as I'm trying to make an audio effects unit that would work in a club. I've tried to use the data from the accelerometer but the raw data just gives me a positve to negative and back to neutral value. I'm trying to use the raw data to say, the wii remote has accelerated and decelerated therefor it has moved from A to B.
