transmission of timing accurate messages between patchers

May 28, 2010 | 9:50 am

Hello Guys,

i am quite new to max msp. So my question may sound a little silly.
what i am trying to accomplish is the following:

1. I have one patcher in a midi channel. There is a clip creating monophone notes. The patcher is supposed to catch the midi events and send a bang to another patcher:
2. I have a second patcher in an audio track which is supposed to react to the notes of the first patcher by triggering an envelope.

I tried to set up this communication between these patchers using send and receive modules. but the problem is, that the timing is simply not accurate. But timing here is absolutly essential, since the whole thing should work like some kind of sidechaining.

Any ideas to transmit the midi events (or a simple bang) between patchers without the timing problems? In Max this works find. In Max for live it doesn’t…..

Thanks in advance for your help!

The issue has been discussed many times but there is no solution.

As explained from the developers, it’s a technical problem since M4L devices on different tracks are running on different threads.
