transport sync AS SLAVE

Morgan's icon

Hi.

so transport runs on its own time whenever you turn it on, and just reports its count when you bang it, right?

I really want to sync the transport as a slave to the master clock in Ableton Live.
this little string of objects does synch with live. I can run the transport at the same tempo and cause it to dump in time with live, but it's not realllly in sync. . .

Are you able to use rewire?

That should afford you tighter sync. Check out hostsync~, or use the "clocksource rewire" message to the transport object.

or use a combination of change~ ==~ 1. and edge instead of delta~.

In any case if you are on a Mac my experience is that Live as Master is a very unstable beast, since version 7 you cannot even stay in loop mode, this on itself will create syncing problems.

Why isn't there a mention of the 'clocksource' message in the reference for the transport? or am I missing it. . .?

I'm running live version 5. Have had it for a while, but am just getting into it.
I think I've got ReWire, too. It's free to download, right?

I've been using soundflower to get the audio from max to ableton.
Thinking about alternative solutions, you can drive the transport from the right inlet. . . .
right now, I'm trying Max as the master. this patch should do the trick, right? I just tried it, but it's not working (I think I missed a switch in ableton)

Umm, good luck with Live version 5. I've no idea if it works. We did all our testing in 7.
