Hi

The recent 'practical maxmsp' video from stretta has generated much interest, obviously; does anyone have experience of installing the Trstan's [analyzer~] external under Vista? the readme file warns that a .dll file called fftw3 is required. I downloaded and extracted this file:

And I'm currently stumped.

"fftw3.dll
This dynamic link library is necessary to make all the above patches work. Best to put in your max folder e.g. "C:Program FilesCycling '74MaxMSP 4.5"

http://www.paulhill.org.uk/ - down the bottom of the software page.

He has a bundle with all the externals and the FFT thing.

Hey thanks grizzle

Got it installed fine; just keeps crashing on me - usually if I have the analyzer~ helpfile open (Max 5.1.8 Vista sp1).

Haven't used it in a while Brendan but I think I remember Max crashes when trying to close a patch with the [analyzer~] it in (vista) but it was solid while the patch was open. Just had a look in Win7 and it seems to be okay but I haven't really tested it. Not much help I'm afraid.

Well, there is reassurance in the fact that it's a known issue; not just me and my ancient machine.

Thanks

Hi guys - trying to do a similar install on a Windows 7 64bit machine... do you know if those Paul Hill installs work on Max 6 with that system? Doesn't seem so - getting "Error 193 loading external analyser~" kinds of messages :(

Unfortunately I believe Tristan's objects like analyzer~ are not 64-bit.
