Hi,

I know that you guys will tell me that I’m a lazy poster.
But I’ve tried to search before posting but I couldn’t find anything.
I’ve tried “beat chopper”, “beat chopper share…etc.” and didn’t work.

so, my first question is “how to search effectively?”

second is,

I tried to make my supercollider beat chopper code in max for some reason.

My code cuts a loop in 16 chunks and using float position value in 16 step sequencer. rate, trigger speed, velocity and sample choosing are modulatable in real time. It uses LFOs to trigger each chunks in sync, not a midi clock. it kind of ‘crossfade’ between chunks when change the position value in a sequencer cell. I don’t know how it’s done, but it does alone in SC.

what I do not have in my SC code, is individual envelope for each chunks, I’d like to have it in Max, if it’s not so much pain in the a** as in SC.

It’s been a few month away from max, and I’ve never really tried MSP seriously…I’m having some hard time here…

can anyone help me?

thanks a lot.

The first answer is perhaps to think a bit more outside of the box – whilst beat chopping is the intended application, maybe sampling or sampler is a more generalised term for similar projects? Maybe try looking up [groove~] [buffer~] and [multislider] for example since they’re potentially essential objects in this style of patch.

As for the enveloping, tried [adsr~]? Look in the help files and tutorials for the above objects. Everything is in them to practically write your patch for you. They’re pretty good like that.

For the record I have quite a similar beat-slicing-loop-recycling patch on my other machine that I’ll upload for your musing when I get the chance. Needs some work though – learnt a lot since I first built it lol.
