Since I can’t reproduce this at all, I assume that you’re just
getting in practice for April Fools Day. Here’s what I did:

1. create ubumenu
2. open inspector
3. click folder button and choose folder
4. turn on “autopopulate”
5. close inspector
6. curse Gary Nelson for wasting my time

then I tried

1. create ubumenu
2. open inspector
3. click folder button and choose folder
4. close inspector
5. create message box “populate”, connect to ubumenu
6. lock patch and click message box
7. curse Gary Nelson for wasting my time

then I tried

1. create ubumenu
2. create message box “prefix Bellyache:/Users/jeremydb/”
3. create message box “populate”
4. lock patch click message box created in step 2 and then the one
from step 3
5. curse Gary Nelson for wasting my time

Can you tell me how to reproduce this alleged behavior?

Thanks – (;), in case that wasn’t clear)

Duh…the problem is spaces in the path name. Forgot that, with spaces,
ubumenu doesn’t regard the path name as valid.
