No sound when using sfplay and umenu

Hello. New member here.

I'm attempting to create a music player that can be manipulated with the use of the Wii Remote. I've set up a umenu so that I have a list of sound flies ready and I have everything set up so that the sound can be played forwards and backwards by tilting the Remote right and left respectively and that A and B can play and stop the sound. The problem I am currently having is that I can't hear any audio and no errors come up in the Max Window.

What would be the best method of fixing this issue? Or what other alternative methods are there? The Patcher is linked down below.

Thank you.

Welcome. FYI Sfplay~ requires the message 'open' xxx , not read xxx. Easy trap to fall into given splay~ doesn't 'complain'...

Ah. Well, I tried replacing "read" with "open" and when I selected a different audio file, it goes back to "read xxx". Is there a way I can get around this?

I'm guessing that can only be happening due to the [prepend read] under the umenu. Change that to [prepend open] and you should have more luck.

@ spectro (with apologies to OP for the hijack)

can I contact you privately? I need to reference your small but significant contribution to a logic problem I had a while ago, in my PhD.
