Unscramble "copy compressed" format?

I wonder if someone could reveal what magic is used to turn the
"———begin_max5_patcher———-" patches into regular JSON files
without using Max 5 or its runtime?

I’ll be stuck with 10.3 and 4.6.3 for the time being, and while the
supercollider based converter works great for .maxpat patches, all
patches posted to the list remain a mystery to me.

Thanks,
g.

as for the sc converter i did ask someone at cycling for a hint on
which compression format they use. but got a no. else i would have
made an effort to add uncompression features.
unlikely to happen now. my demo period is over and i’m not
upgrading. but please tell if you find out.
