November 3, 2006 | 8:50 am

im a new max user and trying to figure out how convert usb data from an everyday usb game controller for a pc into midi data that can control an instument in max. eventually, i would like to make this patch a vst, so i could use usb game controllers as midi contollers for ableton, reaktor, ect…any ideas?

Check out the help file for the [hi] object. I use it for this exact
purpose with a Logitech Dual Action controller. You won’t need to
create a vst, though, unless you really want to. You can send the
all kinds of midi data directly out of Max with objects like [ctlout]
and [midiout].
