I plan to use the acoustic instrument to trigger some random noise to achieve a close connection between the gesture of instrument and the noise. I am thinking of using groove~ or play~ object, but would like get some suggestions about the effective ways of mapping. Any suggestions or examples ?

Thanks.

This will get you most of the way there:

http://cycling74.com/practical-max/practical-max-1/

Groove and play are both buffer playback objects so you’d either be loading samples into them or recording into them (record~, poke~ etc..)
