Using javac – basic compiling

July 13, 2006 | 6:18 pm

Hi,

I’m just trying to to the basic HelloWorld1.java external. I’ve had a look at the tutorials, haven’t used anything in ‘configuring’, but apart form that, all sees fine.
However, I get the following error in the terminal:

$ javac -classpath "/Library/Application Support/Cycling ’74/java/lib/max.jar" HelloWorld1.java
HelloWorld1.java:3: error while writing HelloWorld1: HelloWorld1.class (Permission denied)
public class HelloWorld1 extends MaxObject {
^
1 error
[andrew@eccles:/Applications/MaxMSP 4.5/java-doc/tutorial/src] $ javac -classpath "/Library/Application Support/Cycling ’74/java/lib/max.jar" HelloWorld1.java
HelloWorld1.java:3: error while writing HelloWorld1: HelloWorld1.class (Permission denied)
public class HelloWorld1 extends MaxObject {
^
1 error
[andrew@eccles:/Applications/MaxMSP 4.5/java-doc/tutorial/src] $

///////
If anyone could help, that’d be great!

Either this directory isn’t writable, or there’s a class file there
which you don’t have permission to overwrite…
