hey, I was just wondering if someone can help me out with some info?

I'm making a patch to that will record a sample from input to the buffer memory, then when the user triggers the recording to stop, that triggers the buffer size to fit the sample. Going through the manual, it seems like buffer needs an argument to determine the size, otherwise it holds no memory. However with a patch using of [clocker] [prepend size] combo, it seems that the audio is goinginto the buffer, then the prepend size message changes the size and clears the buffer...

If you're able to hepl, I'd be v.grateful!

That's expected behavior. You can't resize a buffer without clearing 

it -- best to just use the duration of your recording to set a

That's expected behavior.  You can't resize a buffer without clearing  
it -- best to just use the duration of your recording to set a  
looppoint somehow.

i would like to trigger samples when and only when i have

a key pressed on my computer. i would like it to start when

i hit the button and stop when i released the button, like

a "normal" sampler. What am i doing wrong? Below is my

You need something to report when the key is released (keyup is the obvious choice). The transparent button with the triggers after it needs the t 0 for keyup and the t 1 for key down and needs to be in toggle mode rather than button mode. And actually the transparent button thing is unneccessary. Also, using the line you need to trigger different line segments to start and stop (and it will only play for 2 seconds at the most). I redid the patch with groove~ which is a much simpler object to use for this kind of idea and allows the sound to loop indefinately until you release the key. Check out these two solutions and the tutorials/help files for all of the new objects I used:

scratching (most likely using mousestate). Do you have

any advice on this? i can't seem to be able to control the

scrub too well with what i am doing, only scrubs up to a

certain point. FYI, i have been reading the manual, just

Use scale to map the length of the sample to the size of your desired mouse area. I run at 1280x854 so I mapped to almost the entire height of the screen in the new version I'll paste below. I kept the size of the selection to just the width of the screen as it sounds ok like that. You could use a scale object before adding the two numbers together to make it fit your needs. I also added a scrubber which changes the pitch of playback which gives the effect of a turntable scratch (kinda). This is actually a hard thing to do and really emulate the behavior of a record. I tried making such a beast a couple of years ago when I was starting with Max and it's too lame to even post as help to you! :) Perhaps I'll revisit that little project...I'll let you know if I do.

No worries, it seems like you have been. I remember having a head full of ideas and not enough know how to make it happen (I guess that's still the case) so I'm happy to help others when I can - 'cause I had lots of help myself. :)
