Vocal Processing – Any Help Would be of great use!

January 27, 2011 | 11:16 pm

Hey, I’m totally new to Max MSP, so excuse me if this is a simple one (it probably is). I’ve read through some of the tutorials and help sections in Max, but have struggled to find what I need!

Basically, I’m trying to record into Max (this part is fine) and then have some processing options for the recorded file; see it as like a vocal processing pedal. So for now , I want to take the recorded signal, and apply some kind of EQ to it, either Parametric or Graphic. Is there a way I can do this?

So right now, I’ve literally got a toggle, ezadc~ and open linked towards sfrecord~, and I’m stuck from there.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

You could check out the filtergraph~ helpfile (used in conjunction with biquad~) or check the SVF~, you can they use a simple drop down menu to select between various filters (using a selector to switch between the SVF outputs). You can specify to have N filters with filtergraph which may be nice for GUI.

May also want to look at clip~ and overdrive~ for some distortion FX too. If your not looking to do real-time processing, then see sfplay~ or groove~ for buffer playback.

This series of tutorials will probably help.
