I'm trying to build an 8-band vocoder using the 'classic vocoder' patch from the examples folder. However, I'm not sure what should be the center frequency of the 8 filters?

Perhaps a starting point would be to set them 'in between' the existing 15(?) channel version. Optimally a way of setting setting a start frequency and offset factor for the filters (a a Logic's built-in vocoder) could help experiments to find your preferred values

build one with variable frequencies for more fun. then you can adapt them to your needs in the concrete situation.
