I’m finding that every time I try to export a VST instrument, it ALMOST works… but when I open it in another program, the window is too small. So, I may see the top left corner of my Patch (VST), but not the whole image.
Is there something obvious I’m overlooking? I would think that somewhere there is a page to set the dimensions of your VST, no?
Yes there is : you can set the size from plugconfig
#C setsize 520 420;
#C defaultview Interface 0 1 0;
This work for me. (remember that these dimension are tooked from the top-left corner, also you’ll need to left some room at the top – around 20-30 pixel when in lock mode-)
There are also "autosize" and "window" feature but I’m not sure how those work.
The pluconfig contains what ? a text file. In this text file, you write
what ? "setsize x y;" Then you take care of useviews parameters.
Every max object got what ? A help file. How did you get it ? Select-F1
on Windows (or Alt-select, or right-click), i don’t know on macintosh.
And, how wonderfull, what do you see in plugconfig.help ? A "windowsize"
You need to change the default size message (can’t remember exactly what it
is right now) to "windowsize" and make sure that before you build the plug,
the window is set to exactly the size you want, with a gap at the top big
enough to accommodate the Pluggo bar thingie – I think it’s about 30 pixels.
Yes it would be nice to be able to set this up in a more precise way (and
maybe there is a way I’ve not read about) ‘cos it’s a real pain if (as I do)
you like to have no scroll bars,
Ahhh brilliant… thank you all.
The Plugconfig was exactly what I needed…

wow thats new to me too … i usually have a tracing
picture of a known size (or just plan the size from
the beginning) and then set a "size x y" command
